Melissa Adylia Calasanz is a powerhouse fitness professional who walks her talk, and loves to deliver workouts clients crave.
Specializing in the care and prevention of injuries, Melissa creates healthy, balanced, and functional bodies by providing customized personal training programs, non impact group fitness classes, and workshops.
Melissa is a former professional dancer, Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness and Indoor Cycling Instructor, and a USA Track and Field (USATF) Level 1 Certified Coach. She has studied Kinesiology with a focus on The Care and Prevention on Athletic Injuries, Kinesiology and Human Performance, and Dance Anatomy.
Her Controlled Burn Fitness Personal Training Sessions, Classes, and Workshops are always unique and intense.
She is well known for giving everyone from the first time fitness participant to the hard core fitness enthusiast enough personalized attention to make sure that everyone feels challenged and that no one feels left behind.
Though Melissa has recently moved to Orange County, she still makes time to take care of Personal Training Clients on Mondays in the Los Angeles area, and is looking forward to sharing her passion for health and fitness with more people in "The OC".
Fitness is not only Melissa’s profession, it's her passion!
When Melissa is not taking care of her amazing Controlled Burn Fitness Personal Training clients, and cooking healthy and delicious meals for her husband, you can find her teaching Runners Conditioning Classes, and leading Runners Warm-Ups and post-run Stretch & Cool-Downs at running events and for local Running Clubs.
Melissa has participated in countless 5ks, 10ks, Pacific Coast Trails Runs/Ultras, and quite a few Half and Full Marathons.

Since I will be running the Napa Valley Marathon in March, I had to give up doing the Big Sur Full Marathon. However, I am so excited to cheer on all the marathon runners after I run the 10.6 miler! I intend to stay til the last runner crosses the finish line! :)

When Melissa is not running around, you can often find her Kayaking in Newport Bay, taking dance classes in LA, riding her vintage bike "Periwinkle," as well as hitting the trails and sand of Crystal Cove State Park.
Melissa believes a healthy, balanced, and functional body goes hand in hand with a healthy, balanced, and functional life. Melissa makes it a priority to make time to enjoy quality time with her amazing husband, friends, and family as often as she can.
Though it was a difficult decision to close the Controlled Burn Fitness Studio last year after it suffered a fire, Melissa is embracing her recent move to Orange County by hitting the water, running the trails, and registering for as many local running events as possible.
